HOW TO GET TO…

ABOUT MANCHESTER:
Manchester is an exciting city in the North-West of England. It is world-famous for its music scene, for the key role it played in the Industrial Revolution and, of course, for football! The city is equally characterised by its canals, its galleries, museums and theatres, its Universities and the various scientific discoveries that have taken place here (including splitting the atom), the birth of the suffragette movement and its love for diversity and freedom. A wide range of walking/bus tours are available in the city that cover all areas and attractions for all possible interests. The conference will organise a walking tour of the city centre on Wednesday 29 October (included in the registration fee) and a number of interesting post-conference tours on Saturday 1 November (for an extra fee and subject to participant numbers), so we recommend waiting until these are announced before you book your own tours.
HOW TO GET HERE:
Manchester is easily reachable by air with direct flights to Manchester International Airport (MAN) available from many cities in Europe and beyond. It is also easily reachable by train and coach with direct services from many cities in the UK.
Train services and Metrolink (tram) connections bring you from the airport to the city centre (Manchester Piccadilly Station) regularly throughout the day. Both depart from the Manchester International Airport Train Station, which is a short and easy walk from all airport terminals through a covered walkway.
Holiday Inn (the main conference venue) is a two-minute walk from Manchester Piccadilly Station. The train takes between 15 and 30 minutes and the Metrolink approximately 50 minutes. You can buy tickets easily at the ticket machines at the main hall of the Airport Train Station. A return train ticket will cost about £12. Taxis, Uber and Free Now rides are also available right outside the airport (approximately £30 one way).
